Rockchip SOMs
System-on-modules: offload DDR and PMIC layout risk and focus on your carrier board.
A SoM carries the SoC, DDR, PMIC and eMMC; you design a simpler carrier board with your connectors. For RK3588-class products this removes the hardest layout work (LPDDR4X/5 routing) and speeds certification, at a higher unit cost.
Key points
- Compare board-to-board connector pin-outs early; they lock you in.
- Ask for the carrier reference schematic, layout guidelines and the module's BSP sources.
- Industrial-temperature options (e.g. RK3568J / RK3588J) exist for harsh environments.
