Rockchip Yocto

meta-rockchip, machine configs and building production images with the Yocto Project.

The meta-rockchip layer provides machine configurations, U-Boot and kernel recipes for many Rockchip SoCs and boards. Yocto suits products that need long-term maintenance, SBOMs, and strict control over every package.

Key points

  • Start from a supported MACHINE in meta-rockchip, then create your own machine .conf for a custom board.
  • Vendor-kernel features (NPU, MPP) need extra layers or recipes; mainline-based images are simpler.
  • Generate wic images and flash them with rkdeveloptool or dd.
