Rockchip PCIe

PCIe controllers, combo PHYs, bifurcation and NVMe on Rockchip SoCs.

RK3588 has a PCIe 3.0 x4 controller (bifurcatable) plus three PCIe 2.1 x1 controllers on combo PHYs shared with SATA and USB 3. RK3568 has PCIe 3.0 x2 plus one PCIe 2.1 x1. Most "NVMe not detected" issues trace back to device-tree PHY mode, power/reset GPIOs, or signal integrity at Gen3.

Key points

  • Enable both the controller node (e.g. pcie3x4) and its PHY (pcie30phy); combo-PHY lanes must be set to PCIe mode.
  • vpcie3v3-supply and reset-gpios (PERST#) must match your schematic.
  • Limit to Gen2 (max-link-speed = <2>) to test for signal-integrity problems.
